The title page for the fifth part of my personal history titled “Retirement Years in Denver and in Georgia.”

chapter17 Chapter Seventeen – My Retirement Years in Denver

Esther and I had talked about our retirement years from time to time and agreed we would stay in Denver where we were accessible to our respective extended families and where we expected Celeste as well as Tom and his family would continue to live.  Also, we were within reasonable visiting distance of Valerie and her family as well as our extended families.  We loved the Front Range area around Denver and felt more at home there than we did in southern Idaho.
chapter18 Chapter Eighteen – A Georgia Connection

There was much that I didn’t know or really understand but this seemed to be the season of my life to study the gospel more seriously.  I wanted a greater understanding of its principles as well as the roll the temple played in the restored Church.  Such an understanding would involve principles similar to those required by any serious discipline in our secular lives.  I would have to study the scriptures more seriously, apply their counsel more effectively in my daily life and spend more time in the temple.

chapter19 Chapter Nineteen – Two Delightful Vacations

Part I |  Part IIPart III

Quite possibly, I should have stopped writing while I was ahead or maybe I should say, not so far behind.  The reader will have to be the judge as he or she continues their journey through Grandpa’s marvelous exploits of life.  How-some-ever, I have a couple of relatively recent trips to write about and who knows what else I might add by the time I finish with them.  If you are lucky the included material will just be a winding down process for the mental stress you have already been subjected to.  One might look at this chapter as being similar to the cooling off exercises an athlete goes through after engaging in a heavy workout.

The title page for the sixth part of my personal history titled “Reflections of a Secular & a Religious Nature.”

chapter20 Chapter Twenty – Reflections of a Secular Nature

Whereas previous chapters have been related to actual events in my life, with a little baloney thrown in, I will attempt in this chapter to speak in a more philosophical manner regarding life.  In the vernacular of a college graduate, (wow!), such talk means it has an extra dose of baloney.  However, I hope that’s not really the case because from my viewpoint the points I make are serious, although the reader will have to judge the content for him or herself.
chapter21 Chapter Twenty One – Reflections of a Religious Nature

Although I made some reference to religion in the last chapter, I also mentioned that any reflections or deeper thought I might have on the subject would be given in more detail in this chapter.  Consequently I begin here to take the reader on a review of my musings about this subject, which having fueled the acts that brought me to my present position in life.

part_seven_title_page Part Seven Title Page

The title page for the seventh part of my personal history titled “The Great Apostasy and the Gospel’s Restoration.”

chapter22 Chapter Twenty Two – The Great Apostasy

It is apparent from the existence of the many protestant churches that a considerable number of spiritual leaders during the reformation felt the Catholic Church had lost its way, that it was no longer guided by a pope who communed with God, as had the twelve apostles.  None of these leaders, at least to my knowledge, claimed direct revelation from God in establishing a new church.
chapter23 Chapter Twenty Three – The Gospel’s Restoration

Considering that there apparently was an apostasy, as described in the foregoing chapter, there must also, at some point in time, be a restoration of the doctrines of the primitive Church, which Christ established.  That is, such a restoration must occur, if the Lord’s work is to be carried to a successful conclusion.
